Amicus: The Amicus Committee reviews significant Intellectual Property issues presenting in the appellate courts, advises the Board regarding issues that may be suitable for briefing, and ultimately prepares amicus briefs on issues of significance to the membership of the Austin IPLA. The 2011 Amicus Committee is chaired by Jen Kuhn (Law Office of Jennifer Kuhn). The 2011 Amicus Committee members are Aaron Fountain (DLA Piper), John Garvish (McKool Smith), Craig Jepson (Reed & Scardino), Joshua Jones (Law Office of Joshua Jones), Jeffrey Mills (King & Spalding), Brian Nash (Bracewell & Giuliani) and Eagle Robinson (Fulbright & Jaworski)..
Program: The purpose of this Committee is to make recommendations for and arrange for Continuing Legal Education Programs or other events of interest to the Association's members.
Outstanding Inventor Award:Each year the Austin IPLA solicits and reviews nominations for an inventor or joint inventors to be recognized with the Association’s "Outstanding Inventor Award," which is presented at the Annual Federal Judges Appreciation Dinner in the Fall. Members of the Outstanding Inventor Award Committee review the nominations and make recommendations to the Board. The 2011 Members of the Outstanding Inventor Award Committee are J. Roger Williams (Andrews Kurth LLP), Diana Gerhardt (IBM) and Dominic Lindauer (Lee & Hayes). Nominations may be made by completing the nomination form and submitting the completed form to ioy@austin-ipla.org.
Public Relations and Education (Inactive): The purpose of this Committee is evolving. In the past, it has been responsible for the content and maintenance of our website. Other potential purposes include community outreach programs. The chair would have flexibility in determining an appropriate purpose and goals.
Legislative Affairs and By-Laws (Inactive): The purpose of this Committee is to review pertinent pending legislation and new laws or regulations of interest to our Association and to report to the membership. The Committee is also responsible for maintaining the Bylaws of the Association and making recommendations for amendments as appropriate.
Membership (Inactive): The purpose of this Committee is to encourage growth in the membership of the Association.
