President: David W. O'Brien
David is a founding member of the Austin-based intellectual property practice, Zagorin OBrien Graham LLP. David is an experienced patent attorney and recognized authority on intellectual property protection for software. He prepares and prosecutes high-value patent applications and provides clients with focused offensive and defensive analyses of intellectual property positions, including opinions, assertion analyses and acquisition due diligence. David assists clients and litigation counsel in substantive patent matters and in the deposition of witnesses. Over the years, David has provided strategic counsel to a variety of multi-national corporations and emerging companies in the context of major microprocessor-, semiconductor- and network security patent assertions. Vice President: Rob L. King Rob King is an in-house intellectual property attorney for Freescale Semiconductor in Austin. Rob's practice as an in-house counsel for a semiconductor client has included software licensing, drafting and negotiation of commercial transaction agreements, patent preparation and prosecution, intellectual property litigation support, due diligence analysis associated with acquisitions and divestitures, trade secret misappropriation investigations, trademark clearance reviews and patent cross-licensing. He is licensed as a patent attorney by the U.S. Patent Office and serves as the Director of Patent Prosecution for Freescale. Rob holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with honors from Texas Tech University and a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law. He is an active member of the Intellectual Property Law sections of the State Bar of Texas and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in the Western and Northern Federal District Courts of Texas, the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Treasurer: Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett is a partner in the Austin office of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. He joined Fulbright in 2000 and has lived in Austin since 1993. Michael's law practice is focused on intellectual property and particularly patent litigation. He works with clients practicing in many different areas: electrical, semiconductor, imaging, telecommunications, computer hardware, software, mechanical, medical, software, nanotechnology, microfluidics, and chemistry. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Michael worked as a research assistant for The University of Texas Physics Department and as a cooperative engineer at Advanced Micro Devices. Michael is a member of various law associations and is registered to practice in front of the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as district courts in Texas. Immediate Past President: Pierre Hubert
Pierre Hubert is a Principal in the Austin office of McKool Smith. Prior to joining McKool Smith, Mr. Hubert was a partner at a large multinational New-York-City-based firm. Mr. Hubert’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, including patent infringement matters in complex electrical and computer related technology. He holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering from University of Texas at Austin and Rice University, respectively, in addition to his law degree from New York University. Mr. Hubert is a former clerk of the Honorable Pauline Newman of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington DC. He has experience in various federal courts as well as the International Trade Commission. He repeatedly has been recognized by his peers as a "Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star" in IP Litigation, most recently in 2008.
